Welcome to our website! Western Student Transportation, known as
WST, was developed after Western students approved an Alternative Transportation Fee in April
2007. WST is responsible for representing and coordinating student transportation needs, and
coordinate services such as the WTA Viking Xpress Bus Pass and the WWU Late Night Shuttle.
Updates:
- The Orca Card is a new interagency transit card recognized by the following transit agencies: Everett, King County Metro, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Pierce County Transit, Kitsap Transit. The Orca card is used by loading it with cash value just like putting money on your Western Card. The Orca card can be used as a transfer within two hours of paying a fare with one of the listed transit companies (the system tracks this for you, just tap your card on the Orca reader when boarding). For complete information see orcacard.com. You may want to use this card instead of paying additional fares for transfers when riding the above named transit systems to travel to Seattle, Tacoma or Bellevue areas.
- WWU to Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue for $5 or less
- For directions go to http://www.wwu.edu/transportation/connections.shtml. This route works on Weekdays Only, and will get you home for the weekend departing Western on Friday afternoon at 3 or 5pm, and returning Monday morning, arriving at Western 8:34am. Please note the option of using the Orca card to avoid transfer fees.
- IMPORTANT: you CANNOT use public transit to get from the Seattle area to Western on WEEKENDS. Please see Greyhound or Amtrak service instead.
